Are there any requirements?
Yes – for the safety of your cat or dog and the well-being of all the pets boarded, all pets must be current on their vaccinations. Vaccinations protect your pet from Bordatella and other infectious diseases. Since our boarding facilities are associated with our veterinary hospital, we are glad to update your pet’s vaccinations. You also must be a current veterinary client of the animal hospital to utilize the pet boarding service.
What is Bordatella?
Bordatella, also known as kennel cough, is an airborne disease caused by the bacteria Bordatella bronchiseptica. Infection causes a dry, hacking cough that sounds like your dog is trying to clear her throat. The cough usually develops three to seven days after infection. Your dog can spread the disease for weeks after symptoms subside, causing widespread infection in places such as kennels.
What should I bring from home?
Bring canned or dry food from home if your pet is on a special diet; otherwise, we supply nutritious dry food to keep your pet at peak physical condition. Be sure to send enough food to last the entire time you intend to board your pet. While you may bring his bowl, please do not bring any breakable dishes.
Be sure to bring medications or prescriptions for your pet’s medications; we are glad to administer these medications for a small fee. Your dog or cat might appreciate a “comfort item,” like a favorite toy. To maintain clean facilities and to keep our volume of laundry to a minimum as we change bedding daily, we ask that you keep personal items to a minimum.
Is boarding suitable for all pets?
Some pets enjoy boarding more than do others but your veterinarian in Las Vegas provides pet boarding for dogs, cats and pocket pets.
What if something happens and my pet needs care?
When your pet stays at our boarding center, they are only a few steps away from their veterinarian in Las Vegas at St. Francis Animal Hospital. We keep your pet’s medical records on hand, so we can provide emergency medical care if your dog, cat or pet pocket becomes ill.
